Trial by Fire: Part II On the morning of September 11th 2001, Deputy Chief John Norman FDNY (retired) was asleep and oblivious to the attack on America by terrorists until his home answering machine went off with an urgent “all call” message from his department. Norman admits that nothing can prepare person for the things that he and others experienced on the ground that morning or the weeks to follow but he knows that his foundational base and strength was built upon the education and practical experience he received at OSU; this beginning made a significant difference.
